In addition, GCP snapshots are independent of one another and cannot create consistency groups. If your application has multiple disks, snapshots will fail to provide long-term data protection.
While GCP provides native capabilities for backups, it also has several limitations. For example, backups in GCP are incremental, which means that you can’t restore any data back to an earlier version of the database. And because snapshots are only available for an instance, they’re useless for protecting data from a different region.
